Year 6 Synagogue Visit

Year 6 recently enjoyed a fascinating educational visit to a local synagogue as part of their Religious Education learning. The visit gave pupils the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Judaism and to see first-hand how a place of worship is used by the Jewish community.

During the visit, the children learned about the importance of the Torah and were shown key features of the synagogue, including the Ark, the eternal light (Ner Tamid) and the Bimah. Pupils listened carefully as the Rabbi explained how the synagogue is used for prayer, learning and community gatherings.

The children behaved respectfully throughout the visit and asked thoughtful questions about Jewish beliefs, traditions and daily life. Many pupils were particularly interested in learning about Shabbat and the role of the Rabbi within the community.

This visit helped to support our RE curriculum by encouraging pupils to develop respect for different religions and cultures. Year 6 represented the school extremely well and returned with a greater understanding of Judaism and the importance of religious diversity.
